Christmas wishlist

I am officially done with the first semester of college and I am back in New York City! Even though I came back on such a gloomy Sunday morning, I was so glad to be back. My flight got cancelled and my friends and I were just bumming around the airport for a good 4 hours. We slept on the benches because we were so tired. Haha. After going away for college, I realized my love for New York City and I just know that no other place will ever replace the place I call home. I was so excited that I did not even mind walking the streets while getting soaked in the rain. I hate the rain and I hate going out in the rain. However, today was different. I did not mind it all that much. (:

Anyways, since I had free time on my hands I figured I would post up my Christmas wishlist. I make one every year but I always end up not getting anything on my wish list which is a little sad, but it's okay. It gives me a satisfying kind of feeling anyways.

1. Creepers- I love these. They are a wonderful addition to my grunge looks these days. (:

2. Leather jacket - I have been wanting a leather jacket for awhile. I used to have one, but I sold it because it wasn't even good quality. I want to invest in a good quality one that would last me.

3. Velvet dress - This velvet dress is so lovely and has the right appropriate cuts and amount of sheerness.

4. Chelsea boots - These are so in this year. I would really love a pair.

5. These wedges are so cute. I really think I have an obsession with leather and cutouts lately. The height of the heel is not that high either which is perfect!

6. Terrarium - This last item I want is kind of random but it's a terrarium in a hexagon shape! It is adorable. Normally, I am not a plant person, or a pet person but I think I will start growing a plant of my own. And perhaps, I'll name it greeny.

That is all for now, folks! Remember to stay warm, and enjoy the cold weather. (:
Much love,
Nancy

Tips On How to Dress Warm During The Winter

These are tips I wrote up last year(I think) for my followers on tumblr. I realized that during the winter I still want to wear my tights and skirts and dresses. But wearing only tights will cause me to freeze to death. I began to wear thigh high socks over my tights and it definitely helps with my freezing legs. I looked up and thought up of different ways of keeping warm but still looking stylish in the winter. I am now going to share these tips right here on my blog. I hope these tips help you guys. (:

  1. Wear sheer tights and over the knee socks. I do this all the time. It keeps my feet and calves warm. Although your thighs are still half exposed, you’ll be fine in 30-40 degree weather. (example)
  2. Wear tights under your leggings. Sometimes we have those thin leggings that are meant for the spring and summer, and we would freeze our bums off wearing those in the winter. Wearing tights under our leggings would keep us warm without making our legs look extra bulky.
  3. Wear cute patterned knit tights. If you’re feeling lazy, wearing some knitted patterned tights would add a little pizzazz in your outfit and keep you warm at the same time.
  4. Wear socks over your jeans. This might sound a little weird but, it’s actually really cute and makes your outfit look more comfortable and warm. I prefer to wear gray socks with darker color jeans. Sometimes our jeans just aren’t warm enough for us. I know mine aren’t. Most of mine are jeggings, so they’re really not warm at all. You can also pair them with knee high boots. (Example 1) (Example 2)
  5. Wear socks under your jeans. Make sure you don’t wear those super bulky socks under your jeans, or your calves would look super muscular. The normal ones would do just fine. It would help if you had a pair of boots as well to hide the bulkiness of the socks (if you only have thick socks).
  6. Wear maxi skirts. Think you can only wear these in the spring? You’re wrong. Maxi skirts actually help you stay warmer than jeans. An advantage to wearing maxi skirts in the winter is that you can still look put-together and stay super warm at the same time, because no one can see what you’re wearing under your skirt. You can wear whatever keeps you warm under them. Pairing maxi skirts with a knitted sweater would look super stylish, while staying warm at the same time. (Example)

I hope these tips help you guys. (:

Closing Down The Pattern Department

As I have promised, I took some time to take pictures and posted a new look. Studying is such a hard thing to do. My friend has already finished all her finals. I am so jealous she gets to relax and bum around. I want to do that as well. But sadly, I am unable to relax until the end of the week. I posted a look featuring one of my latest thrift finds: geometric sweater. (:

I have also been wearing my denim jacket a lot. It definitely matches a lot of my outfits. The weather where I am living in currently, is definitely bipolar. So it is better for me to layer up. You can't see it but, I am actually wearing another sweater under that sweater. A little bit of a tip for you guys. Speaking of tips, I will be posting up tips on how to dress warmer during the winter very soon. So, be on the lookout for that.  I am yawning as I type this so I guess I will be sleeping in a few.

Good night lovelies ♥

Finals week procrastination

It is currently finals week for me. I hope everyone is studying hard for their finals too. I know I'm not. Luckily I only have two finals and they're not early on in the week either. I can't wait to go back to New York City next Sunday. I miss the dirty streets and rude people (not really). Instead of studying for my finals yesterday, I went thrifting at Salvation Army in crappy weather. It was raining and cold. But, I am so glad I went. I bought 8 things for less than 40 dollars. I would say I did pretty well. I also found a pair of high-waisted jeans for my friend that she turned into shorts. (: Here's what I found!

Aware, Rust and Repair

I am finally posting a new look. It's about time isn't it? I just finished all my papers and tests, and I thought to myself, "It's about time to update my empty blog". I never knew taking pictures on the stairs would turn out so nice. Haha. Here is my outfit.

Busy Busy Busy

This blogging thing is so hard. How do people keep up with it. ):
I've been busy trying to settle down in my university as well as balancing everything. I can't manage my time well at all. It sucks! I wish I could post more outfits on lookbook, but that would mean awkward pictures in my dorm. I'll try to get an outfit post soon when I'm not too busy, but somehow I always end up being busy. Anyhow, I've gone on some thrifting adventures near my university and I am so glad for the deserted Salvation Army I found. They have super cute sweaters for cheap and I just want to buy everything.
Another place I've checked out is Plato's closet. I spent a long time in that store trying to rummage through everything so I don't miss anything good. That was when I found this beauty.

Buffalo Exchange

I actually only started thrifting last year. I became interested in it when I saw on lookbook that people "thrift" and I wondered what that was. I thought it was a store. Well, technically it is a store but I thought it was like a forever 21 where you can enter and buy clothes. When I told my friend I wanted to try and go thrifting, coincidentally, she was also interested. Her mom thrifts and finds good deals so the first place I ever went to was Goodwill.
Buffalo Exchange was the second store she brought me to for thrifting. They have two locations but the one I usually go to is located on Driggs Avenue in Williamsburg. I went today with four of my friends cause they wanted to try thrifting too but I guess thrifting isn't really for them. Only one of them really found stuff. I grabbed a few things but because I'm poor I tried to limit myself. I bought a skirt, high waisted shorts and this really really nice bag that I am feigning over. I've been trying to look for something like this and I HAD to get it. My total ended up being $44.50. Let me just say that Buffalo Exchange isn't really a good place to find cheap finds. It's a bit pricey actually. But, occasionally you'll see some (barely) cheaper items that are worth it. So, here's how my bag looks!

To Struggle With Light Colors

I'm not very good with this blogging thing. How do people post so often?
Well, lately I've been busy with prom and college and other stuff. And, I never got to post up my favorite sweater on lookbook! I shall do it next week. Speaking of next week, I'll be turning 18! I'll also be graduating on the 25th! Excuse my continuous exclamation marks. I'm excited and a little sad to be leaving high school. This means I am officially turning old. It kind of sucks. ): Anyways, enough about my life.
Last month (I think), I won a giveaway for Romwe hosted by Jennifer from Art In Our Blood. I got super lucky and I have been meaning to to post about it but..let's not get into that. I finally posted a look of me wearing that dress on lookbook and here it is.

Inactive

I have been inactive for awhile. I can't post looks because lately I've been a bit busy studying and my parents took my camera to work but never brought it back home so I couldn't post any new looks. ): I'll definitely post a new look next week. That will be my goal for next week. I have so many outfits I want to take pictures of. Man. I was window shopping with my mom a few weeks ago and I was looking at creepers and Dr. martens (I've always been into the punk kid look). I am really digging these velvet Dr. martens.

Aren't they just gorgeous? My feet can't really take the stiff leather of the regular Dr. martens so these will have to do. They're like converses but cuter I guess. Haha. But before I get these beauties I need a job. Desperately. In the summer I won't even be able to make much money. How saddening. Anyways, I just wanted to post a little something up so my blog doesn't look dead. I hope this does the trick.
It's time for me to hit the hay. Good night!

Rainy Sundays

I don't really like the new blogspot but I'll live with it. It was a bit confusing. I woke up feeling groggy this morning. I looked outside and it was raining. I hate the rain. I hate the rain even more when it happens to be on a Sunday. Sundays are supposed to be sunny, hence the 'sun' in Sunday. Now, I'm just stuck at home.

I guess I'll be wearing knit sweaters over a collared shirt this whole week because I'm lazy and it's so easy to do. The weather in New York City is going to be rainy and depressing for the next few days. Rain ruins everything for me ): I'll probably be too lazy to wear skirts or dresses. But, I've always really liked the androgynous look. And, as you can tell from my first outfit, I really love collars! They just make an outfit look more put together. :)

Spring is here!

I have been too lazy to take pictures of my outfits. It's such a hassle with my dslr. And you guys have no idea how horrendous my apartment looks. There's absolutely no area where I can take a full body picture of my outfits. I finally found a good place today. Believe it or not, this is my kitchen!

Anyways, I wore this to school today. I love peter pan collars. They're so great for layering and etc. Hope you guys like my first look!
